A blessing way was much like a rite of passage welcoming and having special ceremony to celebrate motherhood. This is also an opportunity to nurture the mother for carrying child. The "Mother to be" will receive a cacao ceremony for her an her closest friends/family (Limit is 12). Ceremonial Cacao is a plant from the region of Guatemala that was used by the Mayans to open the heart and create connection. It can also instill joy with it's chemical theobromine. It oxygenates the brain and dilates the arteries. It is safe for pregnant momma's and was given even during labor by the Mayans. Momma will also receive a couple of gifts by the host including belly casting and some other goodies to give to participants. Other participants are encouraged to bring poems, words of advice, offer momma to be a service such as a massage, etc. to make her feel nurtured.
